I am so pleased to be involved with the Community of Calm – a local Trauma Informed Practitioner Support Group (TIPs) and Arts for Wellness is their first project.
Arts for Wellness will run during October 2019 and provide the Northern Beaches community with access to creative arts and expressive therapies. For more on their events click here. Current medical and social science research shows that engaging with creative arts and expressive therapies in a trauma aware setting improves wellbeing and long term health outcomes.
I’ll be presenting an hour long session, with my husband Michael Courtney who is a very experienced Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction teacher, in which we explore the breath and mindful practices:
‘Harnessing Breath, Mind and Body for Calm and Resilience’
12.30-1.30pm Saturday 5 Oct
Mona Vale Memorial Hall, 1 Park St Mona Vale
Working with the rhythms of the breath, combining movement and mindfulness can bring us deeply into our bodies and helps us strengthen and balance our nervous system.
In this class you will experience and explore a number of breathing and embodied mindful movement practices that are used in Integrative Breathing Therapy and proven to improve physical health, breathing functionality and resilience.
The practices taught in this class aim to provide participants with a unique set of tools for self-regulation that can be used in daily life to develop calm and resilience.
